FORMER GHANA GAS CEO SELECTED AS PARAMOUNT CHIEF

FORMER CEO of Ghana GAS, Dr Ben Asante has been selected as the candidate for the vacant Juansa Paramount stool.

The Juansa Paramountcy is a traditional authority located in the Asante Akim North Municipal District of the Ashanti Region, Ghana. As of late 2025, it is undergoing a leadership transition following the death of its previous ruler. 

Current Leadership and Status (2025)

  • Candidate Selection: In December 2025, Dr. Ben K.D. Asante, the former CEO of Ghana Gas, was selected as the candidate to fill the vacant Juansa Paramount Stool.
  • Approval Process: His appointment requires formal introduction to and approval by the Asantehene (the King of the Ashanti), after which he will swear an oath of allegiance to his people, the King, and the Asanteman Council.
  • Recent Vacancy: The stool became vacant following the passing of the late Paramount Chief, Nana Osei Kwame Agyeman Tiatoa.
    • One-week funeral observations were held in early 2025 (January/February).
    • The “Dote Yie” (pre-burial rites) took place in July 2025. 

Traditional Context

  • Classification: Juansa is one of the three recognized paramouncies in the Asante Akim North area, alongside Agogo and Domeabra.
  • Jurisdiction: The town of Juansa serves as the capital of this traditional area.
  • Allegiance: Like all paramouncies within the Ashanti Kingdom, the Juansa Paramount Chief (Omanhene) swears a direct oath of allegiance to the Asantehene.
