The former Education Minister and the NPP flagbearer hopeful Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum believes Ghana will make history by having its first teacher as head of state.
According to him, Ghanaians will vote for him and the NPP in the 2028 general elections if he leads the party into the 2028 general elections.
Dr. Adutwum speaking to NPP delegates in Sunyani on Sunday, 5th October, 2025 as part of his campaign tour to the Bono Region, he indicates that teachers nationwide will massively endorse him, voting for their own to become president.
The Bosomtwe MP declared that, as president, his administration would launch a decisive war on poverty.
Speaking to the gathering, Dr. Adutwum expressed his confidence in the nation’s potential, citing examples of countries that have overcome poverty through TVET education.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark fm that his record of transforming Ghana’s education system makes him the ideal candidate to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections.
Adutwum pledged to secure good producer prices for cocoa farmers and implement policies to improve the lives of teachers as part of his broad vision for the country.
Touching on his visions for party members, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum promised to establish a data office in every constituency to enable all Party members to provide their details, allowing him to offer assistance to members who may need opportunities in his government when he becomes president.
Additionally, Adutwum says he will create a secretariat at the Presidency, which he terms as the Presidential Advisor for Party Affairs, linking NPP party members directly to his office as president to facilitate swift support for party faithful.
Furthermore, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum promised to establish a special health insurance scheme in every constituency to support party members’ health needs.
