Suzzy Pinamang, an Adventist student at SHS who was recently wounded in the face by a fellow student, has received GH¢100,000 from the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS).
In order to raise additional money for her rehabilitation and healing, CHASS has also requested that her parents open a bank account in her name.
After the horrific event, Suzzy, a student at Bantama, Ashanti Region’s Adventist Senior High School, tragically lost her sight.
During break time on Friday, April 4, a gunshot occurred. A Form Two student named Bernard Amoabeng is accused of bringing a pistol to class.
A group of students reportedly began debating whether the weapon was real or capable of firing. According to reports, Amoabeng shot Suzzy and another student in an effort to support his argument.
Victim recounts unfortunate incident
Regarding the terrible event, Suzzy disclosed:
“It was break time, but I had already eaten and stayed in the classroom. The boy had the gun with him even during the maths class, but none of the teachers noticed it. He was sitting on the second desk while I had my head down on the table. When I lifted my head, he shot me in the face. I immediately covered my face and began pleading for help, but because of the blood, no one came to my aid.“
“I was eventually taken to the senior housemistress, who instructed that I be sent to the sick bay. But I told her I couldn’t see anything before I was rushed to the hospital.“
