FC Samartex 1996 has officially unveiled former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars striker, Eric Kwabena Bekoe, as the Head Coach of the Youth Team and Assistant Coach for the Men’s First Team, with a key responsibility of guiding the attacking department.
The announcement was made live on GreenGold TV, in the presence of Club President Richard Nsenkyire Duah and General Manager Edmund Ackah, who both expressed confidence in the former Berekum Chelsea attacker’s ability to make a strong impact.

Known as one of the most prolific strikers in Ghana during his playing days, Bekoe was the 2007/08 Ghana Premier League top scorer while at Kotoko. He later enjoyed successful spells abroad with Petrojet in Egypt, and also played for clubs such as AFC Leopards in Kenya and Sekondi Hasaacas in Ghana.
His extensive domestic and international experience will be vital in shaping Samartex’s attacking identity and mentoring upcoming talents. The club sees the 38-year-old’s appointment as a strategic investment in both present and future success. His immediate role will be to improve the finishing and creativity of the first team’s forwards, while also overseeing the development of youth players to ensure the Timber Giants build a strong production line of strikers capable of excelling in the Ghana Premier League and beyond.
This move underscores Samartex’s growing ambition to establish itself not only as a competitive force in the Ghana Premier League but also as a hub for nurturing and exporting football talent. With Bekoe’s proven eye for goals and wealth of football knowledge, the club and its supporters are optimistic about a new era of attacking football and sustained growth.
