EXCLUSIVE: FC AshantiGold 04 beat Swedru All Blacks to sign Basake Holy Stars defender Jacob Boazee

Ghana Premier League side FC AshantiGold 04 have completed the signing of Basake Holy Stars defender Jacob Boazee on a permanent transfer, Ekuzoanews.com can exclusively report.

The 24-year-old joins the Obuasi-based club as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with the Nzema-based outfit.

Boazee has signed a three-year contract with the Aboakese Lads, committing his future to the club until 2029.

Swedru All Blacks had been frontrunners for the defender’s signature and were leading the race until Friday morning. However, FC AshantiGold 04 made a late move to hijack the deal, successfully convincing the centre-back to join their project ahead of the newly promoted side.

The commanding defender leaves Basake Holy Stars after an impressive spell, having made 44 appearances and scored two goals for the club. His consistent displays at the heart of the defence established him as one of the most reliable centre-backs in the Ghana Premier League.

Boazee returned to Basake Holy Stars ahead of the 2024/25 season after Bofoakwa Tano suffered relegation to the Division One League. He had previously left Holy Stars to join the Bofo-based club, who finished as runners-up in the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup.

His performances over the past two seasons attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs, but the Miners ultimately won the race for his signature.

Boazee is expected to strengthen FC AshantiGold 04’s defensive unit as the Miners continue to reshape their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
