EXCLUSIVE: AshantiGold 04, FC Samartex in race to sign Basake Holy Stars defender Jacob Boazee

Ghana Premier League duo FC AshantiGold 04 and FC Samartex 1996 are locked in a battle to secure the signature of Basake Holy Stars centre-back Jacob Boazee, sources have exclusively informed Ekuzoanews.com.

The two clubs have identified the highly-rated defender as a key transfer target and are pushing to complete a deal before the close of the ongoing transfer window.

Boazee has emerged as one of the standout defenders in the Ghana Premier League following a string of commanding performances for Basake Holy Stars. The 24-year-old has made 44 appearances and scored two goals for the Nzema-based outfit, underlining his importance at both ends of the pitch. His composure in possession, aerial dominance, leadership and defensive discipline have attracted interest from several clubs, with AshantiGold 04 and Samartex currently leading the race for his signature.

The defender previously featured for Basake Holy Stars before earning a move to Bofoakwa Tano, who finished as runners-up in the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup.

Following Bofoakwa Tano’s relegation to the Division One League at the end of the 2023/24 season, Boazee returned to Basake Holy Stars for the 2024/25 campaign, where he quickly re-established himself as one of the club’s most influential players.

His impressive displays have made him one of the most sought-after defenders in the Ghana Premier League, with both AshantiGold 04 and FC Samartex eager to reinforce their backlines ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Negotiations are understood to be ongoing, although no agreement has yet been reached between the clubs involved.

Should either AshantiGold 04 or FC Samartex complete the deal, they would be securing one of the league’s most consistent and reliable central defenders.
