EOCO Refutes False Claims on Springfield Energy Investigation

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has dismissed reports by online news outlet Novareport alleging that Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer of Springfield Energy, has been arrested and detained in Dubai due to EOCO’s failure to act on a petition involving alleged fraud.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, November 2, 2025, EOCO described the publication as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it.

According to the agency, it currently has two active investigations involving Springfield Energy — one based on a petition filed against the company, and another concerning an explosive case between BOST and Springfield Energy. EOCO emphasized that, in line with its policy, investigations must precede any arrest, not the other way around.

“EOCO does not comment on active investigations,” the statement said, adding that it was regrettable that Novareport failed to seek clarification before publishing the story.

The Office reaffirmed its commitment to diligently investigating and prosecuting economic and organized crimes in Ghana, assuring the public that it remains focused on fulfilling its mandate with integrity.

EOCO concluded by calling on Ghanaians to disregard the claims by Novareport and to note that it is actively working on two separate cases involving Springfield Energy.
