In order to address the recent leadership issue at the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, the Vice-Chancellor, is pleading with the Asantehene for assistance.
John Mevemeo, a Central Region resident of Millennium City-Kasoa, filed a request for an injunction against the Vice-Chancellor, and last week the Cape Coast High Court approved it.
Professor Nyarko Boampong is prohibited from serving as Vice-Chancellor by the court’s ruling.
This comes after the institution decided to extend Professor Nyarko Boampong’s tenure till July 31, 2026.
Lawyers for the embattled VC then requested a stay of execution.
As the Vice-Chancellor addressed a special assembly to bestow a degree upon the Asantehene, he requested Otumfuo’s involvement.
Professor Nyarko Boampong urged the Asantehene to step in before it’s too late, claiming that the present injunction was negatively affecting the university’s administration.
“Such actions driven by external pressures risk running us down into an era of confusion in this country.
“It is at this critical venture that we turn to your leadership, your majesty. We face challenges today, particularly between our beloved University of Cape Coast,” he said.
