Ellembelle Traditional Council Confers ‘Development Chief’ Title on Lands Minister Buah

The Eastern Nzema Traditional Council, led by its Paramount Chief, HRM Awulae Blay IX, has conferred the distinguished traditional title “Ellembelle Anyunluhɔlɛ Belemgbunli,” meaning “Development Chief of Ellembelle,” on the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.

The honour was announced during a courtesy visit by an eminent delegation of chiefs and queens from the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area to the minister at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

The visit provided an opportunity for the traditional authorities to express their profound appreciation for the successful organisation of the annual NkrumahFest celebration, themed A Journey to Nkroful, while engaging the minister in discussions on key issues relating to the socioeconomic advancement and long-term development of the Ellembelle District.

The conferment of the title marks a distinguished moment in the engagement, reflecting the traditional council’s recognition of Hon. Buah’s leadership, public service and contributions towards advancing the developmental aspirations of the area.

Hon. Buah, who represents Ellembelle in Parliament and serves as Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, has also played a central role in promoting the district’s historical and cultural heritage through his involvement in the annual NkrumahFest celebration.

The festival commemorates the enduring legacy of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President, who was born in Nkroful, a historic community in the Ellembelle District. Through the celebration, organisers seek to preserve his legacy, promote national consciousness and spotlight Nkroful’s historical significance in Ghana’s political and cultural history.

Beyond the expression of gratitude for the successful festival, the courtesy visit offered a platform for substantive deliberations on matters central to Ellembelle’s development. Discussions focused on the importance of sustained collaboration between traditional authorities and political leadership in addressing local priorities, improving living conditions and advancing the collective welfare of residents.

The delegation’s engagement with the minister, under the leadership of HRM Awulae Blay IX, further highlighted the enduring relevance of traditional institutions in fostering consensus, preserving cultural identity and contributing to the formulation of a shared vision for community development.

The conferment of the title “Ellembelle Anyunluhɔlɛ Belemgbunli” therefore represents a significant traditional honour for Hon. Buah, while reinforcing the importance of purposeful leadership, institutional collaboration and a sustained commitment to the progress and prosperity of the Ellembelle District.
