Techiman Eleven Wonders have earned a dramatic return to the Ghana Premier League after a three-year spell in the lower divisions, following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Real Tamale United (RTU) in the Division One League playoff final at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, 30th May 2025.
The match was a thrilling showcase of resilience and determination, culminating in a stoppage-time penalty that ignited jubilant celebrations among the Techiman faithful.
The game began with high intensity, and Eleven Wonders opened the scoring in the 13th minute through a composed finish by Frank Awere. RTU responded with purpose, pressing for an equalizer, and their persistence paid off in the 67th minute when Blabala Bamon confidently converted a penalty to level the score.

As the match edged toward a dramatic conclusion, the decisive moment arrived in the 90th minute. Referee Selorm Yao awarded a penalty to Eleven Wonders following a handball in the RTU penalty area. Farouk Ameyaw stepped up and coolly dispatched the spot-kick, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way and securing a memorable victory.
The winning goal not only sealed promotion but also etched Ameyaw’s name into Eleven Wonders’ history books.

Both teams had topped their respective Division One zones, making the playoff final a high-stakes, winner-takes-all encounter for the sole promotion spot to the Premier League.
The victory ends Eleven Wonders’ three-year absence from Ghana’s top flight. For RTU, the defeat means another season in the second tier and a renewed mission to mount a promotion campaign next year.
