Renowned politician and football administrator from Ghana, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, has voiced his worries about the impending elections in his country.
Dr. Tamakloe stated, “I am worried because of the behaviour of the Electoral Commission,” in a Starr Chat discussion with Bola Ray.
Dr. Tamakloe said he was quite familiar with the Electoral Commissioner and that Charles Mensa, the Commissioner’s spouse, had called him recently to talk about how to keep the peace during the election. He was advised by Dr. Tamakloe to “let your wife do the right thing” since he thought the Electoral Commission was not managing things appropriately.
“If we are not careful and certain things are not put in place, the Electoral Commission will walk us into disaster,” Dr. Tamakloe issued a warning. Watch what I say, I’m telling you. He emphasised that in order to maintain national peace, wrongs must be corrected.
In his example, Dr. Tamakloe gave the example of moving an entire group of people without their knowledge, which he felt was a bad idea. He asked the Electoral Commission to take the nation’s peace seriously.
Dr. Tamakloe’s worries highlight the importance of fairness, openness, and accountability in the voting process as the nation gets ready for the next elections.
