According to the Electoral Commission (EC), the deadline for presidential candidates to submit their candidacy forms has been extended.

The commission claims that by giving candidates a chance to fix any issues with their nomination forms prior to them being placed on the ballot, the action is intended to avoid candidates from being disqualified.

At the stakeholder event for the National Peace Council, Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Commissioner overseeing operations at the EC, disclosed this.

“We are extending the days of nomination so that if there are certain challenges on the nomination forms of a particular candidate, we would be able to resolve that before we put them on the ballot papers,” he stated.

Mr Tettey further reiterated that the EC was ensuring that the electoral processes were transparent from beginning to end.
