Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC and winger Ebenezer Ackahbi have officially parted ways after the player declined a fresh contract offer, bringing his time with the Tarkwa-based club to an end following the expiration of his existing deal.

The talented winger opted against extending his stay with the Yellow and Mauves as he looks to secure a new challenge and revive his career with increased opportunities for regular first-team football.

Ackahbi burst onto the Ghana Premier League scene during the 2019/20 season after being discovered and signed from Achiesu United by then-Medeama head coach Samuel Boadu. His blistering pace, technical brilliance and fearless approach in attack quickly marked him out as one of the club’s most exciting young prospects.

His impressive displays also earned him recognition at the national level, with a call-up to Ghana’s U-17 national team, the Black Starlets, further highlighting his potential and growing reputation.

In pursuit of more playing time and continued development, Ackahbi joined FC Samartex 1996 on loan during the 2022/23 campaign, where he gained valuable experience competing at the highest level of Ghanaian football. The winger also underwent trials in Germany as he explored possible opportunities abroad.

Despite possessing remarkable talent and attacking flair, Ackahbi struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter at Medeama following his return, a situation that influenced his decision to decline a contract renewal and seek a new environment.

Now a free agent, the 22-year-old is expected to attract interest from several clubs in Ghana and beyond, as he prepares to begin the next chapter of his football journey.
