Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has been appointed as the new head coach of Ghana Starlet (U-17) and will also serve as the Head of Coach Education, replacing Desmond Offei. His dual appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the foundations of Ghanaian football, particularly at the youth and technical development levels.
A highly respected coach and academic, Dr. Ogum holds a PHD. in Physical Education with a focus on Sport Psychology. He is known for his expertise in player development, mental conditioning, and tactical organization.
His coaching philosophy is rooted in building mentally resilient and tactically disciplined players, combining scientific knowledge with practical football insight to nurture talent effectively.
Over the years, he has handled several clubs in Ghana, had brief spells with Karela United and later rose to prominence with West Africa Football Academy (WAFA), leading them to a strong third-place league finish while showcasing a commitment to youth development.
His most notable achievement came with Asante Kotoko, where he won the Ghana Premier League in the 2021–22 season and was praised for his modern approach and attention to detail.
Dr Ogum is known for his preference for a tactical formation and his emphasis on structured play, player intelligence, and team cohesion. As he steps into his new roles, he is expected to bring long-term value to both the national team setup and the broader coaching framework in Ghana, setting new standards for technical excellence and youth development.
