The Sekondi High Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III and Nzema Kotoko Football Club against Hon. Simon Ehomah and Basake Holy Stars FC over the use of the Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III Sports Arena located in Ampain in the Ellembelle District.
The dispute centered around the right to use the Ghana Gas–constructed AstroTurf facility, which was built to promote football development within the Ellembelle area. Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III and Nzema Kotoko FC had challenged Basake Holy Stars’ authority to use the facility as their home ground for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
However, in its ruling, the High Court granted Basake Holy Stars FC full permission to use the AstroTurf at Ampain for all their league and domestic matches. The court emphasized that the facility was a public sports development project and should be accessible for the growth of football in the district.
This decision comes as a major boost for Basake Holy Stars FC, who can now confidently host top-tier Premier League matches, including high-profile encounters against Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak scheduled for next month.
Club officials and supporters of Basake Holy Stars have welcomed the ruling, describing it as a victory for football development in Nzema and a relief after months of uncertainty over their home venue.
The Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III Sports Arena remains one of the modern football facilities in the Western Region, serving as a hub for sports growth and community engagement in Ellembelle.
