Breaking News: NPP Communicator Remanded by Court for Alleged Fraud

A Tamale court has remanded Abdul Satar Bikurli, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, into police detention for a period of two weeks due to charges of fraud. The court’s ruling followed Abdul Satar’s appearance to address allegations that he had conned Alhaji Eliasu Haruna, a party member and local businessman.

The businessman alleges that Satar took more than 20,000 Cedis from him, ostensibly to buy shea nuts for him. But despite Haruna’s persistent attempts to get the money back, Satar is said to have failed to deliver the goods and not reimbursed the money.

Abdul Satar allegedly misbehaved in front of the presiding judge during his initial court appearance yesterday, which played a part in the decision to remand him into custody.

The case’s future is still unknown. Although Abdul Satar is scheduled to be detained for two weeks, there are rumours that the matter may be settled out of court. According to reports, a senior NPP official has reportedly promised to pay Alhaji Eliasu Haruna the money that is owed, possibly resulting in an out-of-court settlement.
