Breaking News: NDC to conduct fresh election in Amenfi Central

Plans to hold a new parliamentary primary in the Western region’s Amenfi Central seat have been made public by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

A meeting of the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, is reportedly when the party made their decision.

Because the election is being challenged in court at the Sekondi High Court, the Committee has decided to call off the May 13, 2023, poll.

The election is scheduled for Sunday, September 8, 2024, and the dates have been confirmed in a statement signed by the General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey.

On September 6, the NDC will accept nominations. On September 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., vetting will take place.

On the day of vetting, all candidates who have problems are supposed to file an appeal for remedy between 3 and 5 p.m.

Although she was forbidden from identifying herself as the parliamentary candidate, businesswoman Joana Cudjoe was chosen as the winner.

This was on the back of allegations that she forged her voter ID and party card.

The order of the Court presided over by Justice G. K Gyan-Kontoh also restrained the NDC (who is the second defendant) from allowing Madam Gyan to be held out, dealt with in any way, recognized as the duly elected Parliamentary Candidate.

The NDC formed an interim presidential campaign task force led by Madam Cudjoe to guarantee the campaign’s ongoing efforts.
