Breaking News: CLOGSAG to embark on nationwide strike November 7

A nationwide strike has been declared by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to begin on November 7 in response to the government’s delay in establishing a new pay scale.

Assuming the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) would miss the deadline of October 31 to finalise the new compensation structure, CLOGSAG had earlier declared in a statement dated October 22 that it would go on strike.

Although a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) had been struck one and a half years earlier, the government’s refusal to execute the suggested salary structure was probably the driving force for this decision.

But according to a statement released on Monday, November 4, Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, now views the January 1, 2025 implementation date as impractical.

Additionally, he said CLOGSAG will no longer engage with FWSC’s CEO, Benjamin Arthur, citing bad faith.

“As a result of the long delay in the completion of a New Salary Structure and other Conditions of  Service for the Staff of Civil Service and Local Government Service, the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has no than to ask our members to stay at home on Thursday, November 7th.”
