BREAKING NEWS: Ashantigold Part Ways with Head Coach Abdul Karim Kabutey Zito and Two Technical Staff

FC Ashantigold 04 have announced the immediate termination of the contracts of head coach and technical director Abdul Karim Kabutey Zito, assistant coach Ernest Okyere and goalkeeper trainer Robert Dabo, in a sweeping restructuring of the club’s technical department.

The Obuasi-based outfit confirmed the development in an official communiqué issued on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, following deliberations by the Interim Management Committee during a consultative meeting held on Monday, October 26.

The decision brings the trio’s respective stints at the club to an abrupt conclusion, signalling a decisive administrative intervention in the Miners’ technical hierarchy.

In its statement, the club disclosed that the three officials had been relieved of their responsibilities with immediate effect.

“Following a consultative meeting by the Interim Management Committee on Monday October 26th 2026, a decision has been made to relieve the following members of the FC Ashantigold technical team, of their duties effective immediately,” the statement read.

The management, however, refrained from divulging the specific circumstances that precipitated the termination of their contracts.

Caretaker Coach Entrusted with Interim Responsibilities

In the aftermath of the departures, FC Ashantigold 04 have appointed a caretaker coach to assume temporary responsibility for the team’s technical affairs pending the appointment of a substantive head coach and technical director.

The club is yet to disclose the identity of the interim manager or indicate when a permanent appointment will be finalised.

The impending recruitment is expected to be pivotal to the Miners’ technical reorganisation, with the new leadership tasked with establishing tactical coherence, institutional stability and a clear sporting direction.

Management Extends Appreciation to Departing Trio

Notwithstanding the termination of their contracts, the club’s management has acknowledged the services rendered by the outgoing officials, expressing profound gratitude for their contributions to the team.

The statement further conveyed management’s best wishes to Zito, Okyere and Dabo as they embark on their respective professional endeavours.

The communiqué was signed by Chief Executive Officer Edward Kwasi Akuoko on behalf of FC Ashantigold.

With the technical overhaul now officially confirmed, attention will shift to the caretaker coach’s stewardship and the club’s efforts to secure a permanent technical leadership capable of steering the Miners into their next phase.
