In order to combat unemployment in Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has committed to educating about a million young people digital skills.

On Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Ofie Mega Walk in Akropong, he gave this assurance to party supporters.

In an effort to revitalize the party’s supporters and kick off the campaign in the Akuapem North Constituency, Dr. Bawumia emphasised that creating jobs was his top priority during the event.

Plans to provide one million young people with digital skills so they may find work anywhere in the world without an undergraduate degree were disclosed by him.

He claims that this program will fight unemployment while bridging the skills gap and enabling Ghanaian youth to participate in the global digital economy.

“I want the youth to be employed, jobs will be my main focus. I’ll train about one million youth in digital skills, that’s where the job opportunities are. Even if you haven’t been to the university, as long as you can read and write, we’ll train you in digital skills so that you can work in other countries, while in Ghana.

“You’ll be in Ghana but will be working in America, Canada, Japan, UK.”
