Sammi Awuku, the Akuapim North member of parliament, has stated that he is confident Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia can lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) back to power in the general election of 2028.
Awuku commended the former vice president’s leadership at times of national and international adversity, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and amid global economic shocks, in an interview with Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, June 19.
“I believe Dr. Bawumia presents us with a very good opportunity to win 2028,” Awuku stated. “Some of us are of the unshaken belief that the difficulties we faced as a government over the last four years — the post-COVID era, economies around the world in turmoil, the global shocks and all — Dr. Bawumia did a good job.”
He went on to emphasize Bawumia’s ethics, leadership abilities, and tenacity as the grounds for his steadfast support.
“He stood in the gap for the NPP, and I believe in his personal achievement and records, his character, and the strength of his character, and the integrity that he also has,” Awuku added.
The growing support for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign to guide the NPP into the upcoming presidential election cycle is further strengthened by Awuku’s endorsement.
