Basake Holy Stars Open Free Gate for AshantiGold GPL Showdown in Ampain

Basake Holy Stars have announced free entry for supporters ahead of their Ghana Premier League Matchday 3 encounter against FC AshantiGold 04 at the Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III (AAK III) Sports Arena in Ampain.

The eagerly anticipated fixture is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, 2026, with kick-off at 3:00 p.m., as both clubs prepare for another intriguing chapter in the early stages of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League (GPL) campaign.

The decision to waive gate charges is expected to galvanise the home support, with supporters being given the opportunity to throng the AAK III Sports Arena and create a vibrant atmosphere for the highly anticipated encounter.

Basake Holy Stars began their campaign on a promising note, securing a 1-0 home victory over Swedru All Blacks on Matchday 1.

Francis Oteng emerged as the match-winner after unleashing a superb long-range effort, earning the NASCO Player of the Match award for his decisive contribution.

The Nzema-based side, however, were unable to maintain their winning start when they travelled to the Nana Abrefa Nketia VII Stadium for their Matchday 2 assignment against Young Apostles.

Holy Stars suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Wenchi-based outfit, leaving them with three points from their opening two matches heading into Sunday’s encounter.

AshantiGold, meanwhile, have enjoyed a productive start to their campaign.

The Miners opened their league account with a 1-1 draw away against Port City before responding emphatically on Matchday 2, recording a 3-1 victory over Vision FC.

The result will provide AshantiGold with added confidence as they make the journey to Ampain, where they will face a Holy Stars side intent on returning to winning ways on home soil.

The Matchday 3 fixture therefore brings together two teams with contrasting outcomes from their respective second matches, setting the stage for a compelling contest at the AAK III Sports Arena.

The Basaje-based side will be banking on the vociferous backing of their home faithful as they seek to bounce back from their defeat in Wenchi. The free-gate initiative is expected to further enhance the atmosphere around the fixture and encourage a strong turnout from supporters.

AshantiGold, on the other hand, will be keen to build on their convincing victory over Vision FC and maintain the positive trajectory established in their opening two matches.

The encounter could consequently hinge on which side manages to impose its rhythm, maintain defensive concentration and capitalise on opportunities in the attacking third.

With both clubs seeking points at this early stage of the season, the AAK III Sports Arena is set for an absorbing Ghana Premier League contest.
