Basake Holy Stars on the Verge of Signing Former Karela United Goalkeeper

Basake Holy Stars Football Club are close to securing the services of former Black Starlets (U-17) goalkeeper, Prince Asempa, Ekuzoanews.com can exclusively report.

The “Unbeatable Club” appear to be one of the busiest sides in the current transfer window, as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Football Season.

Basake Holy Stars are currently in advanced negotiations with the former Karela United shot-stopper.

The 25-year-old is expected to put pen to paper in the coming days for the Nzema-based outfit.

Asempa made his Ghana Premier League debut in 2016 for Bechem United at the age of 16, coming on against Inter Allies on April 10 following an injury to first-choice goalkeeper Ernest Adu.

He made his full debut on April 26 in a 2-1 victory over regional rivals Aduana Stars and went on to keep three clean sheets in five matches, including games against Asante Kotoko, Techiman City, and Berekum Chelsea.

Asempa also featured in the full duration of the 2016 MTN FA Cup final, where the “Hunters” defeated Okwawu United 2-1, thanks to a brace from Yaw Annor—clinching the prestigious trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

In February 2022, the then-captain of Bechem United joined Ghana Premier League side Karela United, after making just one appearance in the first round of the season.

He later moved to Barau Football Club in 2024 where they gained promotion to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) for the first time in its history after finishing second in the 2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoffs.
