In a heartfelt press conference held on Sunday, August 17, at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park in Aiyinasi, the Sub-chief of Nyamenle Kwagyina, Odikro Anzakojo (Chairman Agape), has passionately called on Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III to intervene and support Basake Holy Stars Football Club in securing the Ampain park as their home venue for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season.
The Supporters Patron of Basake Holy Stars made it clear that the appeal was not made out of disrespect, but rather from a place of deep concern and urgency, as the club currently seek to play outside Nzemaland.
Odikro Anzakojo described the situation as delicate and urged the Life Patron of Nzema Kotoko Football Club to do everything within his power to help resolve the matter for the sake of the youth and the future of football in the area.
Speaking on behalf of the community and fans, he emphasized that, the Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III Sports Arena is more than just a football ground, it is a symbol of pride and opportunity for the entire region. He noted that the inability of Basake Holy Stars to use the park could hinder their chances in the league and dampen the spirit of the supporters.
In his official statement, he said: “This is not an insult to authority. We are only pleading that Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III helps us in this difficult moment. Let us come together and give Basake Holy Stars the chance to rise from this soil and make us all proud.”
He also used the occasion to call on the President of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council to withdraw the ongoing court case surrounding the use of the Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III Sports Arena.
He believe that resolving the matter outside the courtroom would send a strong message of unity and collaboration. With the league season just around the corner, they are hoping that traditional leaders will rise to the occasion, answer the community’s call, and help ensure that Basake Holy Stars have a home to defend, one they can truly call their own.
