The Axim Sports Complex was a theatre of nerves, passion, and unrelenting determination as Half Assini Senior High School (HASCO) and Nkroful Agriculture Senior High School (NASS) advanced to the final of the Boys Division at the ongoing AXGIS/KNSHS 2026 Inter-Schools Sports Festival after dramatic penalty victories.
HASCO’s semi-final clash against Bonzo Kaku Senior High School (BOKASS) was a fiercely balanced contest marked by tactical discipline and defensive solidity. Both sides battled relentlessly throughout regulation time, but neither could carve out the decisive goal needed to settle the tie. With the deadlock unbroken, the match was pushed to the ultimate test of composure, a penalty shootout.
From the spot, HASCO exhibited remarkable calmness. Converting four of their kicks, they narrowly triumphed 4-3 over a resilient BOKASS side. It was a contest decided by fine margins, where courage and precision proved decisive.
In the second semi-final, host school Kwame Nkrumah Senior High School (KNSHS) faced a determined NASS outfit in front of an energized home crowd. The encounter mirrored the earlier fixture, intense, competitive, and evenly poised. Despite waves of attacking intent from both teams, regulation time failed to produce a winner.
When the moment of reckoning arrived, NASS rose to the occasion with admirable confidence. They converted four of their penalties while restricting KNSHS to just two successful strikes, sealing a 4-2 shootout victory and silencing the home faithful.
With both semi-finals settled by the lottery of penalties, the stage is now set for a compelling finale between HASCO and NASS. Having proven their resilience under immense pressure, both schools head into the final brimming with belief and ambition.
The Boys Division crown will now be contested by two battle-hardened sides, and if the semi-finals are anything to go by, spectators can expect a grand finale worthy of the festival’s prestige.
