The then-Acting Omanhene and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council, Nana Bonyah Kofi IV, has announced that the Atuabo Kundum Festival will be celebrated this year and climaxed with a Grand Durbar of Chiefs and People of Eastern Nzema (Ellembelle Manle).

Speaking during the official coronation of Awulae Blay IX as the Paramount Chief of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council, Nana Bonyah Kofi IV emphasized that this year’s celebration will be held in an atmosphere of unity, peace, and cultural renewal among the people of Nzema.
He assured the public that this year’s Kundum Festival will be celebrated without fear or panic, stating that the Council is prepared to accept the outcome of the ongoing ruling concerning traditional matters. In his words, “Whether court or no court, the Atuabo Kundum Festival will be celebrated.”
Nana Bonyah Kofi IV noted that the Kundum Festival — one of the most cherished traditional events in Nzema land — provides an opportunity for thanksgiving, reflection, and community development. He further mentioned that the Grand Durbar will bring together traditional leaders, government officials, and citizens from across the region and beyond to celebrate Nzema’s rich cultural heritage.
He also encouraged all Nzema indigenes, both home and abroad, to actively participate in the celebrations and uphold the values of peace, respect, and togetherness that the festival embodies.
Details regarding the official dates and program lineup for this year’s Atuabo Kundum Festival are expected to be announced soon by the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council.
