Asante Kotoko Mutually Part Ways With Forward Sampson Eduku

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and forward Sampson Eduku have officially parted ways by mutual consent after a brief stint with the club.

Having joined the Porcupine Warriors in the second round of the 2024/25 season, expectations were high for the former Sekondi Eleven Wise striker. However, limited playing time hindered his ability to fully showcase his talent to the Kotoko faithful.

Despite his determination, Eduku struggled to rediscover the electric form that once made him a household name in Ghanaian football. As Kotoko prepares for the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup—following their FA Cup triumph over Golden Kick last week, the club’s management has opted to release the 29-year-old as part of their squad reshaping.

Eduku’s football journey has been defined by resilience and persistence. He made his mark at Karela United, where his dazzling footwork and consistent goal-scoring ability earned him praise and admiration.

Over the years, he also featured for Elmina Sharks, Sekondi Hasaacas, and FC Samartex 1996 before moving abroad to join Guinean side CI Kamsar. Upon returning to Ghana, Eduku signed with Tamale City, where he enjoyed a standout 2022/23 season, netting 14 goals and providing four assists in 21 appearances.

His impressive form earned him a move to the Iraqi Stars League, where he played for Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and later Al-Hedod SC, gaining valuable experience on the international stage.

Eduku’s move to Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the second transfer window of the 2024/25 season, the deal was championed by then-head coach Prosper Nartey Ogum, who had high hopes for the striker’s impact in the latter stages of the campaign. While the move didn’t yield the desired outcome, Eduku remains a player known for his flair, grit, and unwavering work ethic.

His departure marks the end of a short but memorable chapter with the Porcupine Warriors. Though his time at Kotoko was brief, Sampson Eduku’s journey continues to inspire many young talents across the country. His passion, drive, and commitment to the game ensure that his story is far from over.
