A 42-year-old man, Bismark Yaw Sarfo Danso, popularly known as Yaw Danso, has been brutally murdered at his residence at Asonkore SSNIT, a suburb of Obuasi, in the early hours of Saturday, December 13, 2025.
According to his wife, Comfort Mensah, the deceased—an AngloGold Ashanti worker stationed in Guinea—had returned to Ghana about two weeks ago for a short visit and was preparing to return to work.
She narrated that at about 1:30 a.m., the deceased’s younger brother knocked on their door, claiming he was sick and needed medication. This, she believes, was a tactic used by the attackers to gain access.
When her husband opened the door, one of the robbers allegedly struck him on the head, inflicting severe injuries that led to his death.
Madam Comfort Mensah said she ran into the washroom to alert neighbours but was overpowered by the attackers, tied up, and threatened. The assailants then demanded money and valuables before fleeing with GHS 2,600, two laptops, two mobile phones, and two Bluetooth speakers. They also took keys to the deceased’s car, which was parked in the house.
The younger brother of the deceased has been arrested and is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.
An emotional Comfort Mensah is appealing to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted to face the full rigours of the law.
