The Municipal Chief Executive of Wassa Amenfi East, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah has commended Wassa Japa residents for their remarkable turnout and participation in the recent clean-up exercise held in the town.

The 3rd edition of the Assembly’s clean-up exercise, which aimed to rid the community of filth and promote a clean environment, saw massive participation from residents, security agencies, traditional leaders, and youth groups.

Speaking to journalists after the event, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah said the exercise recorded about 90% turnout, beating his target and expectations.

The clean-up exercise on Friday, 31st October 2025, was part of the Assembly’s efforts to support the national sanitation day initiative introduced by President John Dramani Mahama to promote a clean and healthy environment.

He attributed the success to President John Dramani Mahama’s visionary leadership and effective policy implementation, which has inspired the youth to render their unwavering support to the Amenfi East Assembly.

Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah praised the efforts of the people, saying it was a clear demonstration of their commitment to keeping their environment clean and healthy.

The Amenfi East MCE announced that the clean-up exercise in October, held at Wassa Japa, was simultaneously observed across various communities and towns, showcasing a unified effort towards a cleaner environment.

He said that the 4th edition of the clean-up exercise is expected to be replicated in other communities within the Amenfi municipality of the Western Region.

In his address, the MCE issued a stark warning to Wassa Japa residents, cautioning against connecting household pipes to drains.

He highlighted the severe sanitation issues caused by liquid waste disposal, emphasizing the need for responsible practices.

The MCE also decried unauthorized drain coverings, which often led to blockages and vowed to crack down on perpetrators.

The MCE also used the opportunity to appeal to the people to maintain the cleanliness of the town and to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

He assured the community of the Municipal Assembly’s support in providing the necessary infrastructure and logistics to aid in the maintenance of cleanliness.
