Acting Environment and Lands Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah Leads Ghana’s Delegation to COP30 in Brazil

Ghana’s Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Acting Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP), has arrived in Belém, Brazil, to lead Ghana’s delegation to the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 30).

The conference, taking place in Brazil’s northern city of Belém, brings together world leaders, negotiators, civil society groups, and climate stakeholders to deliberate on critical issues relating to climate action, nature conservation, and sustainable development.

As head of Ghana’s delegation, Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah is expected to deliver Ghana’s national statement at the Summit of Heads of State on Thursday, November 6, 2025, on behalf of President H.E. John Dramani Mahama. His address will highlight Ghana’s climate priorities, commitments, and expectations for enhanced global cooperation in combating climate change.

The Minister is also scheduled to take part in various negotiations, ministerial dialogues, and side events throughout the conference, which runs from November 6 to November 21, 2025. Ghana’s active participation underscores the government’s dedication to environmental protection through knowledge sharing, strategic partnerships, and sustainable solutions.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, Ghana’s involvement in COP 30 represents a reaffirmation of the nation’s resolve to safeguard its environment and build mutually beneficial relationships with international allies working towards a sustainable future.

The Ministry emphasized that this engagement aligns with Ghana’s ongoing efforts to strengthen resilience against climate change impacts, promote renewable energy initiatives, and support global climate governance through collaboration and innovation.
