In response to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) complaints about National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign posters being displayed close to an Odorkor polling station, Kalamu Adamu Musah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly, has vehemently denied the protest, calling it an act of terror and a prelude to defeat.
The NDC parliamentary candidate Ewurabena Aubynn’s posters were displayed near the Church of Pentecost polling station, which the NPP had criticized as an unfair advantage. However, Mr. Musah responded by calling the allegations unfounded and accusing the NPP of making excuses in advance of the crucial rerun.
“These are posters that were not done today. They have been done for over a week,” the MCE said. “It is not only peculiar to the NDC. Maybe one party’s own may outnumber the other. It is normal.”
He argued that both parties have had campaign materials displayed in various parts of the constituency and that the timing of the complaint was suspicious.
“I think it is one of their tactics. This is the same people who said they will not take part in the election, but you are seeing them taking part. So why will you trust the NPP?” he questioned.
Mr. Musah continued by saying the NPP was trying to transfer blame ahead of time because they saw an impending defeat.
“All they are doing is making excuses. The signs are visible to them. They are losing all 19 polling places, and they are extremely explicit about it. I can guarantee you that”. He said.
The rerun has already garnered national interest and is anticipated to be a fierce race in the Ablekuma North constituency. Regarding the poster issue, electoral officials have not yet responded.
