Benjamin Kingsley Bonzoh, widely known in media circles as Sir Benzyma and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Osagyefo Memorial Cup 2026, has praised Dr. Clement Clinton Blay for his unwavering commitment to grassroots football following the successful staging of the tournament’s maiden edition.

The competition, organised by the C.C. Blay Foundation, climaxed on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the Eikwe Astroturf, where Christian Academy FC defeated hosts Eikwe FC 2-0 to lift the inaugural title.

Speaking after the tournament, Sir Benzyma described the championship as a major success, saying it had provided an important platform for young footballers to exhibit their talents while promoting unity and community participation through sport.

He commended Dr. Clement Clinton Blay for his vision and investment in youth football, stressing that initiatives of such nature are vital to the growth of grassroots football on Nzemaland.

“Dr. Clement Clinton Blay has demonstrated exceptional commitment to grassroots football. His vision has created a platform for talented young players to showcase their abilities and pursue greater opportunities in the game. This tournament is a clear indication of what can be achieved when we invest in community football,” Sir Benzyma said.

The Organising Committee Chairman also applauded the six participating clubs, Christian Academy FC, Eikwe FC, Ellembelle City FC, Anokyi United FC, Menzenzor United FC and Baku FC, for their tactical discipline, professionalism and competitive spirit throughout the tournament.

He further expressed gratitude to the organising committee, referees, security agencies, medical team, volunteers, media practitioners, supporters and all stakeholders whose dedication ensured the smooth organisation of the competition.

Sir Benzyma believes the successful maiden edition has laid a strong foundation for the Osagyefo Memorial Cup to become one of the Nzema’s leading grassroots football tournaments, while creating opportunities for talented players to progress to higher levels of the game.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working with Dr. Clement Clinton Blay and the C.C. Blay Foundation to strengthen future editions and further enhance football development across the Ellembelle District and beyond.
