Today, Monday, November 18, the Teachers and Educational Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress (TEWU-TUC) is scheduled to start a nationwide strike because the government has not addressed their long-standing grievances about their working conditions.
Delays in finalising, signing, and putting into effect updated terms of service for employees of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana Library Authority, Museums and Monuments Board, and Public Technical and Traditional Universities have deeply frustrated TEWU-TUC.
The union underlined that their members are unhappy because the talks for these reviews have taken years.
However, the National Labour Commission (NLC) has called the TEWU-TUC and other pertinent parties to a meeting on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
