Sad News: 13 Killed in Kumasi-Obuasi Highway VIP accident

Thirteen individuals were killed in a tragic accident that occurred early yesterday morning, Sunday, October 13, 2024, when a VIP bus in the Western North Region was travelling from Kumasi to Enchi when it went off the road and fell into a ditch near Kwapia, near Obuasi.

According to police reports, seven men, five women, and one child—all bus passengers—were among the dead.
All but one of the victims reportedly passed away at the spot right away. Osei Adu, the driver, was taken to the hospital immediately but tragically died soon after because of the extent of his injuries.

The local community is in shock as a result of the catastrophe, and families are mourning the unexpected death of their loved ones. After picking up a number of stranded passengers from another bus that had broken down earlier on the route, the bus—registered with the number ER 2445-11—became overloaded, according to witnesses.

It is thought that several passengers became agitated due to the packed situation, which might have distracted the driver and caused the deadly collision.

Police have started looking into what caused the collision, and those hurt are getting medical attention in the wake of it.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the morgue as authorities work to gather more details and offer support to the bereaved families.
