In the early hours of Thursday, August 29, 2024, a near-fatal accident occurred at Komenda Junction on the Takoradi-Cape Coast-Acccra Highway involving the Member of Parliament for the Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, and his companions.
After her campaign launch at Half Assini over the weekend, the MP and her staff were on their way back from the Constituency.
Witnesses state that at around 5:05 a.m., while on the way back to Accra, Madam Affo-Toffey’s Ford Raptor vehicle was almost completely destroyed in a terrifying collision caused by a huge truck that was passing too close.
According to the eyewitnesses, the accident happened when two large trucks tried to pass each other and one of the truck drivers, who seemed to be asleep, lost control of the steering.
Madam Affo-Toffey’s driver swerved off the road into the neighbouring bush in a desperate attempt to escape a fatal collision.
The Ford Raptor’s three other occupants, including the MP Dorcas Affo-Toffey, were sent to the hospital where they are presently receiving treatment.
The vehicle got damaged, but the occupants are all in stable conditions.
