The Queen Mother of Denkyira has come to the defense of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka Napo, the vice presidential candidate to Bawumia.
According to her, Napo’s words are often misconstrued as disrespect, when in fact, he is simply speaking the truth with conviction.
The Queen Mother clarified that Denkyira, a town renowned for generating people with the guts to voice their opinions, is the source of Napo’s ancestry.
She underlined that one of the main characteristics of the Denkyira people—and Napo is no different—is the ability to talk with confidence.
“Napo has the blood of Denkyira flowing through his veins, and that gives him the strength to make bold statements,” she said. “He is not being disrespectful; he is simply being true to himself and his roots.”
The Queen Mother said that Ghanaians’ misperception of Napo’s bravery as disrespect was the cause of it. She feels that rather than being criticised, Napo’s honesty and confidence are admirable traits.
