Basake Holy Stars ended their 2024 Division One League (DOL) Super Cup campaign on a high note with a resounding 4-2 victory over Techiman Liberty Youth in the final Group B clash. Despite their impressive win, Basake Holy Stars fell short of qualifying for the semi-finals, finishing with only 4 points.

The match, held on Tuesday, saw Basake Holy Stars come out strong from the start. Prince Tweneboah and Francis Oteng each scored within the first 20 minutes, putting Holy Stars in a commanding position. Techiman Liberty Youth managed to reduce the deficit before halftime through Fatawu Mohammed.

In the second half, Abubakar Konda extended Holy Stars’ lead with a well-taken goal, and Francis Oteng added another to make it 4-1, completing his brace for the match. An unfortunate own goal by Moses Arthur in the closing stages brought the final score to 4-2.

Despite their dominant performance, Basake Holy Stars’ total of 4 points were not enough to secure a place in the semi-finals. Their efforts, however, showcased their potential and resilience throughout the group stage.

Techiman Liberty Youth, who struggled throughout the tournament, ended their campaign without a win but managed to score twice in their final match, demonstrating their fighting spirit.

The conclusion of the group stage now shifts the focus to the semi-finals, which are set to begin on Thursday.

Techiman Heroes will face Okwawu United, while Vision FC will go up against Young Apostles in the semi-finals of the competition. Both semi-final matches promise to deliver thrilling football as the teams vie for a spot in the final.

Globe TV will broadcast the semi-final games live, ensuring that fans across the nation can witness the exciting action. The semi-finals will take place at the Nana Kronamansah Park, leading up to the 3rd place match on Saturday and the grand final on Sunday.
