Former President John Dramani Mahama, who is also the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has stated that he is also hoping for the NDC to have a successful election this year so that the party may maintain its relationship with the Labour Party in the United Kingdom.

Speaking while welcoming Keir Starmer, the recently elected prime minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Mr. Mahama said as much.

According to Mr. Mahama, he anticipates a robust collaboration between Ghana and the United Kingdom.

“Congratulations to @Keir_Starmer and @UKLabour on their landslide victory in the British elections,” Mr Mahama wrote in a post on his X platform.

“The people have spoken, and I am excited about our two nations’ solid future alliance. Ghana will shortly hold elections, just like the UK, and I hope my party does well and that we can maintain our cordial relationship with Labour.

As the next prime minister of Britain, Keir Starmer will lead.

This followed the 14 years of frequently turbulent reign by Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives, who were defeated by his center-left Labour Party in a parliamentary election with a commanding majority.
