The first son of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana, Dr. Francis Nkrumah, passed away.
On Sunday, June 30, 2024, Indian novelist and editor Vijay Prashad announced his death on social media.
“Dr. Francis Nkrumah (1935–2024) passed away recently. He was Kwame Nkrumah’s oldest son. He was a beloved paediatrician for the majority of his life. After the coup against his father, Dr. Nkrumah stayed in Ghana and carried on with his career as a scientist and physician,” he wrote.
The foreword of the most recent edition of “The Revolutionary Thoughts of Kwame Nkrumah,” published by Inkani Books, was cited by the editor. Dr. Francis Nkrumah, in his eulogy of his father, said, “I feel presently that Africa continues to miss [Kwame Nkrumah] unless we go back and revisit what Nkrumah actually meant for Ghana and for Africa.”
Gamal, Samia, and Sekou Nkrumah were the siblings of Francis Nkrumah, the first son of Dr. Nkrumah.
