‘We don’t have GH¢55bn to bail Kofi Jumah; EOCO can keep him till eternity’ – Paul Yandoh

Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Yandoh, has dismissed suggestions that the state could financially intervene in the ongoing case involving former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, Kofi Jumah, describing such a move as unrealistic.

His comments follow reports that Mr. Jumah is under investigation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over alleged financial impropriety.

Reacting to the issue, Yandoh rejected claims of a possible bailout—reportedly in the region of GH¢55 billion—stressing that Ghana cannot shoulder such a financial burden.

“We don’t have GH¢55 billion to bail Kofi Jumah. EOCO, led by Raymond Archer, can keep him till eternity if that is what it takes,” he stated.

According to him, state institutions must be allowed to operate independently and carry out their mandate without external interference.

He further noted that the situation offers authorities an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to the rule of law and the fight against corruption.

The development has sparked public interest, with many calling for transparency as EOCO continues its investigations.

EOCO is yet to officially brief the public in detail, as processes surrounding the case remain ongoing.
