Berekum Chelsea have sorrowfully confirmed the untimely demise of their promising forward, Dominic Frimpong, following a brutal armed robbery attack on the club’s team bus on Sunday evening.
The harrowing incident unfolded as the team journeyed back to Berekum after their Ghana Premier League Matchday 29 encounter against FC Samartex at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samreboi, where they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.
According to official accounts, the team bus was ambushed along the Bibiani–Goaso highway near Ahyiresu. Heavily armed assailants reportedly obstructed the road, compelling players and officials to abandon the vehicle and flee into nearby bushes in a desperate bid for safety.

Amid the ensuing chaos, several individuals sustained varying degrees of injury. Frimpong, aged 20, tragically suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. He was swiftly conveyed to the Bibiani Government Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Ghana Police Service has since initiated an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators, who remain at large, while coordinated efforts continue to trace players and officials who dispersed during the attack.
Frimpong had recently joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC in January, with his stint expected to last until the conclusion of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season. He made 13 appearances, registering two goals before his life was so cruelly cut short.
