‘We Are Determined to Rewrite History’ – Ex-Hearts of Oak Board Member Promises Super Clash Upset

Former Accra Hearts of Oak Board Member, Frank Nelson, has boldly declared that the Phobians are heading to Kumasi with a singular mission: to alter the course of Ghana’s most celebrated football rivalry.

Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM ahead of Sunday’s Super Clash against Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Nelson emphasised that Hearts are no longer content with Kotoko’s recent dominance in the fixture.

“We are determined to rewrite history,” Nelson asserted. “Baba Yara is our ground. It is true Kotoko have had the upper hand in recent years, but this season, we are resolute in changing the narrative.”

The former board member revealed that preparations have been meticulous and that the players fully comprehend the significance of the occasion.

“We are coming to Kumasi this weekend with one objective — to make a difference. The players are fully psyched and understand what this game represents,” he added.

While acknowledging that both sides have struggled with finishing this season, Nelson believes Sunday offers a pivotal turning point in the rivalry.

“Our finishing has not been the best, and neither has Kotoko’s, but I believe this Sunday will signal a shift in fortunes. There will be a change in the winning side,” he said.

Nelson refrained from predicting a specific scoreline but left no doubt about his expectations.

“I will not predict whether it will be 2-0, 1-0, or any scoreline, but one thing is certain — Accra Hearts of Oak must win on that day.”

With Kotoko in fifth place on 35 points and Hearts just one point ahead in fourth, Sunday’s clash carries enormous implications for league standings and psychological momentum. For Nelson and the Phobian faithful, the time to rewrite history has come.
