Black Stars Assistant Coach John Paintsil Holds Strategic Talks with Awulae Blay IX

Ghana Black Stars Assistant Coach, John Paintsil, has paid a courtesy visit to the Paramount Chief of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council, Awulae Blay IX, to discuss ways of improving grassroots football and creating more opportunities for young talents in the Nzema area.

The meeting focused on the need to give talented Nzema youth the chance to feature in Ghana’s national teams. Discussions also highlighted the importance of proper scouting and talent identification across the Ellembelle District to ensure promising players are identified and developed.

The former Leicester City and West Ham United defender noted that the future of Ghana football depends on strong grassroots development. He stated that the Western Region has many talented young players who can succeed with the right guidance, exposure, and support.

Awulae Blay IX welcomed John Paintsil and praised his commitment to youth development. The Paramount Chief reaffirmed his support for football, describing it as an important tool for discipline, unity, and positive youth development. He also stressed the need for cooperation between traditional leaders and football authorities.

The visit came after Basake Holy Stars’ 2-0 victory over rivals FC Samartex 1996, a result that highlighted the growing football potential in the Nzema area.

The meeting reflected a shared commitment to developing young footballers and ensuring that Nzema talents are given the opportunity to represent Ghana at both national and international levels.
