Awiebo Methodist Junior High School has emerged triumphant in the maiden edition of the 2025/26 Tony Cobbold Educational Cup, proudly funded by the JnG Foundation and organized by the Life Buddies Group. The exciting inter-school tournament, held on October 17, 2025, brought together four schools from the vibrant Awiebo community in the Ellembelle District of Ghana’s Western Region.
Participating schools included Awiebo Methodist JHS, Bidoma D/A JHS, Tariq Islamic JHS, and Mary Andoh Preparatory JHS. The one-day competition featured a knockout-style format with three thrilling matches that kept spectators and students alike on their feet throughout the day.
In the opening fixture, Bidoma D/A JHS showcased early dominance, overcoming Tariq Islamic JHS to book their place in the final. The second encounter saw Awiebo Methodist JHS display tactical discipline and flair as they defeated Mary Andoh Preparatory JHS, setting up an electrifying final showdown between Methodist and Bidoma.
The grand finale lived up to expectations as both schools battled fiercely for glory. However, Awiebo Methodist JHS proved superior, edging past Bidoma with a decisive lone goal to claim the prestigious Tony Cobbold Educational Cup.
The event, beyond its competitive spirit, aimed at promoting education through sports, teamwork, and youth development within the community. Organizers expressed gratitude to the JnG Foundation for its unwavering support in nurturing young talents and fostering academic and extracurricular excellence.
The victory marked a proud moment for Awiebo Methodist JHS, whose students and teachers celebrated passionately, chanting songs of joy and unity.
