Atlético Madrid’s preparations for their upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against Arsenal FC at the Emirates Stadium took an unexpected turn on Monday evening, after the Spanish side were left disgruntled over a lack of hot water in the visiting team’s changing room.
The issue was discovered during Atlético’s evening training session in London, with players and staff reportedly expressing frustration to Arsenal officials about the situation. The technical hitch meant the showers in the away dressing room were running cold, an unwelcome surprise for the La Liga outfit as temperatures dipped in the English capital.
According to reports, Atlético were scheduled to wrap up their training at 7:30 p.m., but the team cut their session short after learning of the problem. By the time Arsenal staff managed to restore the hot water supply, Diego Simeone’s men had already departed the stadium and returned to their hotel to freshen up.
Arsenal have since issued an apology to the Spanish club for the inconvenience, emphasizing that the malfunction was swiftly resolved once identified.
While a minor setback, the incident has reportedly left Atlético’s camp unimpressed ahead of what promises to be a fiery encounter at the Emirates.
