Engineers & Planners Completes $100 Million Payment for Azumah Gold Acquisition

Ghanaian-owned mining and construction giant Engineers & Planners (E&P) has successfully completed the full $100 million payment for the acquisition of Azumah Gold Ltd, finalising its acquisition of the Black Volta and Sankofa gold concessions, marking a major milestone in the company’s strategic expansion within the mining sector.

The landmark transaction, which has been finalized after months of negotiations and due diligence, positions Engineers & Planners as a key player in Ghana’s gold mining industry and strengthens its portfolio in natural resource development across West Africa.

According to reliable industry sources, the acquisition includes Azumah Resources’ gold assets, known for their significant untapped gold reserves and strong production potential. The move is expected to boost local employment, enhance Ghana’s gold output, and contribute substantially to government revenue through royalties and taxes.

A senior management representative of Engineers & Planners expressed optimism about the acquisition, noting that it aligns with the company’s long-term vision of driving indigenous participation in the mining sector.

The $100 million deal also underscores the growing influence of Ghanaian companies in sectors traditionally dominated by multinational corporations. Analysts say E&P’s successful acquisition of Azumah Gold sends a strong signal about the financial strength and operational capacity of locally owned enterprises.

Founded by Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama, Engineers & Planners has grown into one of the largest indigenous engineering and mining service companies in West Africa, with operations spanning construction, mining, and logistics.

With this acquisition completed, E&P is expected to commence full-scale development of Azumah’s gold assets in the coming months, paving the way for increased local content participation and sustainable mining practices in Ghana’s rapidly evolving mining landscape.
