The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno has ordered an intelligence-led operation at Watreso and Preacher Krom, both suburbs of Manso Adubia in the Ashanti Region. The operation led to the arrest of 15 suspects, including three females, in connection with illegal mining activities in the area.

The Manso towns have increasingly become a hub for illegal mining, prompting the police to take decisive action.

According to officials, this operation is the first in a series of targeted actions aimed at clamping down on illegal activities in the area.

Items retrieved from the suspects include one water pumping machine, two excavator control boards, two generators, one vulcanizing machine, one Apsonic motorbike, two automatic pump-action guns, two muzzle-loading guns, fifty-nine BB cartridges, and three AA cartridges.

All suspects are currently in custody at the Manso Adubia District Police Headquarters, while the retrieved items have been kept at the same location for further investigation and necessary legal action.
