Speaker Alban Bagbin lifts suspension of four MPs

Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has reversed his judgment and revoked the suspension of four MPs, enabling them to return to the chamber right away.

In order to resume their duties, the suspended Members of Parliament, Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli (Gushegu), Jerry Ahmed Shaib (Weija-Gbawe), Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor (South Dayi), and Frank Annoh-Dompreh (Nsawam-Adoagyiri), have been told to return to the house.

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader, pleaded the Speaker to change his mind, and the Speaker finally accepted.

Mahama Ayariga, the majority leader, endorsed the call as well, emphasizing the Minority’s participation in the Ministers-designate’s vetting process.

The ban was put in place after the Appointments Committee’s vetting session descended into chaos.

Speaker Bagbin stressed that the special committee will keep looking into the disturbances even after the suspension was lifted.
