Football Aficionados in Nzema have fervidly called on Management of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to expedite the renovation works at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park (CAM Park), the home venue for Ghana Premier League outfits, Basake Holy Stars FC.
CAM Park is a cherished landmark in Nzema-Aiyinasi, where it has been the pride of the area, but it currently stands under renovation as part of efforts to meet the necessary requirements set by the Club Licensing Board.
The renovation works at CAM Park has been stalled in the last two months, leaving Basake Holy Stars without a true home grounds, forcing the “Nyamenle wua yɛkɛ wu” lads to adopt their alternative venue Awulae Amihere III Sports Arena in Ampain on temporary base. While this arrangement ensures the team can continue play, it comes with significant challenges for the Community, Club and Supporters. The Supporters who have stood passionately with the club thick and thin find themselves in burden due to increased travel cost, inconvenience and sense distance from their beloved team, however it has increased the teams financial activities and reduced economic pursuit in the community at large.
Many in Nzema’s heartland, particular the fervent fans of Basake Holy Stars Football Club have been vocal in expressing their desire for quick completion of the park’s maintenance. The stakes couldn’t go higher. Every home game at a distant venue weakens the connection between the club and it’s loyal fans who are the true heartbeat of the team. The deep-rooted pride and love for their local club have inspired an urgent call for action, as the indigenous of Nzema rally together to ensure the venue is fully ready to host matches again.
It’s not just a matter of convenience; it’s about fostering a true home advantage, creating a sense of community, and ensuring that the passionate supporters can watch their team play without the hindrances of long journeys and added expenses.
The community believes that GNPC, with its significant resources and influence, can play a pivotal role in ensuring that the renovation of CAM Park is prioritized and completed. The corporation’s support can transform not only the future of Basake Holy Stars but also bring pride and excitement back to the people of Nzema.
The community calls for action, and it is time for GNPC to answer that call. The people of Nzema deserve to see their dreams for a revamped, state-of-the-art CAM Park realized. It is more than just a sporting venue; it is a symbol of hope, unity, and the unbreakable spirit of a community that deserves to stand behind its football club.
This is a rallying cry for all those who believe in the power of sport to unite, inspire, and build stronger communities.
Let the call for CAM Park’s renovation resonate, and may the dream of a home for Basake Holy Stars, rooted in the heart of Nzema, be realized sooner than later!
