President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Sammy Gyamfi Esq. as the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC). His appointment comes with a significant responsibility to establish the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), a key initiative outlined in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 manifesto.
The formation of the GoldBod is a top priority for the Mahama administration, aimed at driving economic revitalization. Under the supervision of the Minister for Finance, the GoldBod will focus on the sustainable management and marketing of Ghana’s gold resources to benefit the nation. This initiative includes formalizing the small-scale gold mining sector and enhancing mining support services to boost industry growth.
Profile of Sammy Gyamfi
Mr. Gyamfi brings a wealth of expertise to this role as a lawyer and Economic Policy Analyst. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Law degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Additionally, he holds a Barrister at Law certificate from the Ghana School of Law and a Master of Arts degree in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana. Mr. Gyamfi is also an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School, where he earned Executive Certificates in Emerging Leaders and Strategic Leadership Programmes.
Before his appointment, Mr. Gyamfi gained industry experience working with Exton Cubic Group Limited, a reputable mining company in Ghana. He currently serves as the National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The establishment of the Ghana Gold Board under his leadership is expected to bring strategic reforms and ensure that the country’s gold resources are managed efficiently for national development.
